Few stories embody the grit, heart, and resilience of country music quite like that of The Greens Country Band. What began as three brothers playing music in a Grapeseed barn has grown into a regional success story, carried by a green festival bus that now tours the highways and byways of San Andreas.
The trio, Lanny Allen Green (lead guitar), Bill Nye Green (vocals), and Freddie Green (multi-instrumentalist), has turned their family bond and small-town roots into a sound that resonates far beyond their hometown. This fall, they will release their newest album, One Last Round, a six-song collection of country and country-rock tracks that capture both their struggles and triumphs.
A New Chapter: One Last Round
The album is set to include:
- Whiskey on My Breath
- San Andreas Blues
- The Yellow Jack Bar
- Route 13 Blues
- Fields of Grapeseed
- Grapeseed to Glory
Each track reflects a slice of San Andreas life, from long nights on dirt roads to the bittersweet pride of homegrown beginnings. “One Last Round is personal,” Lanny told the Journal. “These songs are about where we come from, the mistakes, the lessons, and the victories. It’s country music straight from the dirt we grew up on.”
Trials, Truth, and Triumph
For Lanny, music has long been more than just a hobby. It has been a lifeline. His own struggles with the law and well-documented missteps have only deepened his connection to the music. “I’ve made mistakes, and I’ve owned up to them,” he said. “But country music has always been about telling the truth, even when it’s messy. If our songs keep someone from walking down the same road I did, then it was worth it.”
Younger brother Bill, at just 21, has stepped confidently into the spotlight as the band’s lead singer. His soulful, lived-in vocals bring their lyrics to life with an authenticity beyond his years. “It’s not just about singing notes,” Bill said. “It’s about telling a story people feel in their bones. That’s what I try to do every night.”
Meanwhile, eldest brother Freddie provides the band’s foundation, seamlessly switching between bass, drums, and rhythm guitar to keep the group’s sound balanced and full. “I don’t need to be the frontman,” Freddie admitted. “I just love building the groove so my brothers can shine.”
The Road Ahead
Despite the fights and frictions that naturally come with sibling bands, The Greens Country credit their family bond as their greatest strength. “Nobody fights harder than family,” Lanny said with a grin. “But nobody loves harder either. That’s what makes the music real.”
With One Last Round on the horizon, the brothers are embracing the moment. Their story is one of resilience, authenticity, and second chances, proof that even when life knocks you down, there is always room for one more round.
And for fans eager to hear what is next, the Journal is proud to exclusively share that a teaser of “Grapeseed to Glory” will be posted below this article, giving San Andreas its first taste of the Greens’ newest journey from Grapeseed to glory.
